Born in Ireland to poor Catholic parents, his early life was spent smoking Gauloises and waiting for the 46A bus. Adolescence in the English Home Counties, followed by underwhelming academic performances in Dublin and Paris. He fled Irish unemployment in the 80s to work in marketing in Baden-Württemberg.
He honed his speaking skills at sales conferences in Ulm, um Ulm und um Ulm herum. After the fall of the wall, he rushed into Eastern Europe, spreading the gospel of corporate good. David founded a family in the shadow of the Atomium, the epitomy of cosmopolitan Brussels. He took his first stabs at short fiction here.
The call of the East lured David to the banks of the Sông Sài Gòn where he learnt nothing of the language but made many good friends. He launched a series of start-ups in the vines of Burgundy—wine & tourism & the world-wide-web fed the family for a decade. Now back in Belgium, he eyes the march of progress..
Reviews of David's forthcoming biography of Sindika Dokolo—already drafted and supplied publication-ready to critics pressed for time:
